We have now played our opening match and the result was very promising. The first half was nothing but class from us including an A* performance from our goal keeper Jamie Hutchins who played out of his skin to keep us in the game.

At half time the score was 4-0 to Billericay quite a good performance considering we had no subs and we had never played a 5 a side match indoors before!

However the second half was to be a little less certain for us as they got it back to 4-3 before Paul put the finishing touch on the match with two top class goals bringing it up to 6-3. However this score line does not tell the true story as both goalies played very well, David Turner had numerous 1 on 1's which were very well saved by the goalie of Brentwood NAFC.

The game could have gone either way depending on the day however I feel that a win for Billericay SC was always on the cards after going 4-0 up in the first half.

The man of the match award was voted for by the players after the match and a unanimous vote was for the Goal keeper Jamie who kept us in the match in the first half removing any doubts that he may be incapable of playing for us in goal. We never doubted him he doubted himself. He felt that he had not been playing well in preparation for the match and he said "All I needed was a bit of pressure!" Which is a fair comment as we didn't know what to expect from Brentwood NAFC and they might not have been especially good individually but as a team they looked very good.
